Our Founder

Moses “Mark” Sarkisian, Sr. was born in Charlton, MA, son of Sarkis and Nectar Sarkisian. He grew up in Rutland and made Auburn his home for more than 60 years.

He was a proud World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Corps as an air traffic controller.

In 1951, he founded the Capitol Aluminum Products Company, now known as Capitol Siding. At that time, the company’s specialty was aluminum siding installation. The ensuing years brought about the expansion into window installation, roofing, patio rooms and a gutter division, as well as vinyl and fiber cement siding.

Moses worked as a private detective for the Horgan Detective Agency in Worcester. He owned the former Peacock Lounge in Auburn. He was a licensed real estate agent and Notary Public, and was owner of Auburn Realty Company. Through his commercial real estate ventures, he helped develop two industrial parks in Auburn and served on many local boards.

He was a founding member of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and contributed to the organization as an officer/director for more than 43 years. He served as president (1972-1973) and chaired the Economic Development committee.

He was a lifelong member of the Joel H. Prouty Lodge of Masons in Auburn and the Auburn/ Webster Lodge of Elks, as well as a member of the Worcester Better Business Bureau.

Moses received the Auburn Democrat of the Year Award and the Auburn Citizen of the year Award. He enjoyed playing golf as a member of Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton for over 25 years, where he participated in and won many golf tournaments. He was also a member of Bear Lakes Country Club, West Palm Beach Florida, where he made his winter home with his family.

He was an avid card player and loved hunting and fishing. He took great pleasure in his family and friends. He was a longtime member and Godfather of the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, Worcester. Moses and wife Nancy were married for 45 years and raised three children, Mark Jr., Dale and Sheri Lee. He was the proud grandfather of eight. Mark Sr. passed away in January 2013 having dedicated more than 60 years to the business and his community.
